Black Mambas Win 2019 Betway Talent Search
Composed of players selected from losing teams in the southern and northern zones, the Black mambas have claimed the title on the just concluded Betway Talent Search 2019. The team beat five other clubs to lead the table with 14 points. These teams include the White Scent, Red Devils, Satellite FC, Sukura Wembley Park-Desire and Green Buffalos.
The Black Mambas will be sharing the prize kitty of 25,000 Ghana Cedis and other goodies that came with their exemplary performance. Aside from the grand prize, seven players on the winning team made it to the tournament’s dream team.
In 2019, the Betway Talent Search welcomed teams from various communities in the Southern and Northern Zones. That’s as opposed to previous years where individual entry mechanics were used to getting eight community teams completed from the Southern and northern zones respectively.
Heading the Talent Search Technical team was Steven Appiah, a retired footballer and former Ghanaian midfielder playing in the national team. The Search team also comprised of other notable former South African and Ghanaian players, each with an impressive football record and experience. The talent search also caught the attention of several European scouts who were highly impressed by the talent display.
Speaking about the event, Stephen Appiah congratulated the participating teams for advancing in this tournament. He also urged them to continue pushing harder in the pursuit of their success. According to him, his football career was a success because of consistency and hard work. As such, he urged the players to be ready to work extra hard for their success.
Since 2017 when it was established, the Betway Talent Search has been allowing young, unsigned players to show off their talents to professional clubs in Ghana. Recent talent in the tournament includes Ashgold’s Issac Opoku Antwi and Douglas Amaning.
